The IronFjord Difference
IronFjord Wealth Management was built intentionally as a flat-fee fiduciary firm focused on helping people approach retirement and live in retirement with greater clarity and confidence. The structure is designed to support a long-term relationship built on transparent pricing, comprehensive advice, and guidance that stays aligned with the client’s best interest.
Founded by James Mayo, CFA, CFP®, EA, IronFjord reflects the belief that retirement planning works best when the full picture is considered. Investments matter, but so do taxes, retirement income, Social Security, Medicare, and the many financial decisions that shape life before and during retirement. Rather than treating those areas separately, IronFjord brings them together into one coordinated plan.
That integrated perspective allows recommendations to be made with context and purpose. Investments are managed in line with broader financial goals, tax considerations are woven throughout the planning process, and advice is given thoughtfully rather than reactively. The result is a clear, cohesive strategy designed to support better decisions over time.
Planning, Investments, and Taxes
IronFjord works with high-net-worth individuals and families, including those approaching or living in retirement, who want clear guidance and a coordinated approach to long-term financial decision-making. As a fiduciary firm, our role is to help you make confident decisions with a plan that remains steady and adaptable over time.
Financial and long-term planning
Effective planning begins with understanding your current situation, and what you would like your future to look like. We work through priorities, trade-offs, and future considerations so financial decisions are made with clarity and intention as circumstances evolve.
Investment management
Investments are managed to support the broader plan. Portfolios are designed and managed in-house with an emphasis on diversification, low-cost index funds, and alignment with your overall financial priorities.
Tax planning and preparation
Many financial decisions carry long-term tax implications. Tax planning is incorporated throughout the process. Income tax preparation can also be coordinated through IronFjord Tax Professionals¹.
At IronFjord, planning, investments, and taxes work together as one coordinated strategy, allowing decisions to be made with full context rather than in isolation.
Credentials That Match the Complexity of Retirement
Approaching retirement and living in retirement often requires decisions that cut across investments, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, income planning, estate planning, and more.
James Mayo holds the CFA, CFP®, and EA designations, bringing together advanced training in comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and taxation. That combination helps support advice that is not fragmented, but connected, with each recommendation made in the context of the broader plan.

How It Works: An Overview
A thoughtful, step-by-step process designed to help you get organized, make informed decisions, and move forward with confidence.
1. Introductory Call
We start with an initial conversation to learn more about your situation, what is prompting you to seek advice, and what questions you have. It is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and whether the firm feels like the right fit.
2. Get Organized
If we decide to move forward, we begin the onboarding process. You will complete the necessary paperwork and upload relevant financial documents so I can start building a clear picture of your current situation.
3. Build the Plan
Over a series of focused meetings, we work through your goals, priorities, and financial details. From there, I analyze the information, identify planning opportunities, and develop recommendations designed to fit your life, not just your accounts.
4. Put It Into Action
Once we have aligned on the recommendations, we move into implementation. I help guide that process so the next steps feel manageable and clear, whether that involves investment changes, retirement income planning, tax strategy, or other action items.
5. Ongoing Advice and Oversight
Planning is an ongoing and adaptable process. We continue to meet throughout the year to review progress, update the plan, and adapt to internal and external changes, especially in areas such as tax planning. If something important comes up between our planned meetings, I am available to to help guide you through it.
